"Flakes of Dream", Sophia Chizuco is showing her latest "Circle painting' series, and site-specific installation. She draw many circles influenced by Enso (Circle in Zen). For this piece, she had been painting many different size and color circles in layers for 2 years. Also her interest in making installations and performance are due to her desire to engage viewers in all of their senses: sight, hearing, smell, touch and sometimes even taste. I also enjoy making installations because there are many possibilities to incorporate all kinds of media. For example 1000+ paper cranes Angel Wings were inspired by Japanese legend, that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes, his/her wish come true. The crane is one of the mystical creatures and symbol of peace. The eggshells in Precarious also pertain to human life, in that they are fragile but also full of mystery, potential and everyday magic, provided they are taken care of.
Currently, She is an “Art and Social Practice” Resident, at projectart New York. Also Chizuco is a part of the Immigrant Artists Program, acting as a mentor at the New York Foundation for the Arts. �She is the recipient of both the grand prize from ArtNetwork and the Director’s Recognition Award from Period Gallery. Additionally, she won a merit scholarship from the Art Students League of New York. The artist has exhibited nationally and internationally at the Chelsea Museum (New York), the Staten Island Museum (New York), New York Hall of Science (New York), Lincoln Center (New York), the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum (Japan), Makati Shangri-La Hotel, and Raddison Blu Cebu (Philippines).

Tina Wang is a movement performance with modern and contemporary dance training and a disposition to move from a place of dynamic muscular tension. She dances in a powerful body to physicalize visceral emotions of the human experience. She strives to choreograph dances that are evocative and communicative to her audiences.
She began her dance training under Sonia Franco de Batres of San Salvador, El Salvador as a late beginner ballet student. While attending Washington University in St. Louis, her moving body further trained in ballet, Horton, and jazz technique, gaining performance experience under The Slaughter Project by Cecil Slaughter. She further perused her training at Peridance Capezio Center’s 2-Year Certificate Program with the guidance of Liza Kovacs and Marlena Wolfe.
After intensive studies in ballet, Horton, Graham, and Limon, she worked with choreographers and directors in devised dance and theater works, including The Next Stage Project, Francesca Harper, Maija Garcia, Tatiana Pandiani, Mark Dendy, Melissa van Wijk, and others. Her training in Iyengar and vinyasa yoga have also influenced her movement ideas and forms. Her experience working with Tamar Ettun's Moving Company shifted the framework she thought about the potential of dance movement collaboration with other art forms. Since then, she has pursued performance work with artists within the intersection of experimental dance and moving installations.
Last year, she performed in independent projects with Nick Cave (at the Park Avenue Armory), Tamar Ettun (at Katonah Art and Asbury Park),Tingying Ma (at Movement Research and Chez Bushwick), Marijke Eliasberg in collaboration with Jana Hicks (at Peridance Capezio Center), Ayako Takahashi (at Gibney Dance), and Melissa van Wijk (at Riverside Theater).
