“froggiesvillage” is a village of mischievous, whimsical, and emotional froggies.

Frog is a good luck charm in Japan. Because frogs are considered a symbol of prosperity, that wealth and fortune will return (kaeru) wherever there is a frog (kaeru).

*Frog is “Kaeru (カエル)” and also “Kaeru（帰る）” is “to return” in Japanese.

“I was born and raised in Shizuoka, Japan surrounded by mountains, green tea fields, rice fields, a river and the Pacific Ocean. On summer nights, I remember the loud songs of frogs on summer nights. Influenced by organic materials and nature, I have been drawing animals, lines and shapes mimicking natural elements. Specially, I love to draw frogs to reflect a myriad of human emotions and perspectives. Froggies in froggiesvillage are standing, sitting, fishing, hiding, pretending someone else, etc. I believe that the frog is also a symbol of fertility, transformation, and mystery.” – Sophia Chizuco
